Gardening woes, but it's NOT too late!

Hello, Hello! How does your garden grow? For me, this year ... it grows ... well, it grows weeds! And not just a few rouge ones. We're talking ... the entire garden has been taken over and you don't even know what I have planted! Seriously, it's so bad that a guest thought the weeds were my vegtable plants! Of course, a weed is only a plant that is in a location you don't desire. I mean, even the weeds do have beautiful green color, and many will put out a pretty flower! Heck, those button weeds (the ones the guest thought were garden produce) did provide quite the shade canopy for my onions! My mother tells me that my great grandfather would allow some weeds to grow to extend the early crops with shade... so.. see, I'm just following a true family tradition. Ha ha ha! For the past few years I have let my garden get the best of me. It's hard to admit, but it's true. I have somehow let my beautiful garden space turn into a ugly eye

Home Canned Pinto Chili Beans

Well Kansas has seen it's first snow....short lived, but it did happen. This means colder weather and what is better to serve than Chili! If your not an avid canner you might ask yourself why would you want to can your own beans rather than just buy them? I mean....there is a lot of work and time involved in canning! Well, there are many reasons to can beans for yourself. For me, it was all about doing something that I had not done before! You know...the whole inquisitive thing...ya...that's me! I have canned plain pinto beans for various recipes including homemade refried beans, but never a chili version. I did keep track of the cost, and it's actually quite a bit cheaper to purchase dry beans and can them yourself. Even if you make them all fancy like! LOL! And of course if I was going to do that! I mean, if I'm taking the time to do this now, I wanted to save myself time later! That's another big reason people can, it will save not only money,

Designing a Wooly Block

So...Wooly Block Adventure...What's that? Well, If you're familiar with the Row By Row Experience, the Wooly Block program is a "spin off" .. ha ha... do you get what I'm saying? Basically, It's a great way to get you back into the fabric store in a new and different way! I love it! There are participants all over the US and other countries that participate in these events! This particular year, we were the ONLY store representing Kansas. I was just thrilled at the idea of that! I'm a PROUD Kansas born and raised girl! Anyone who came into the store during the specified time frame could receive ONE free pattern, or choose to purchase the kit with the fabric shown. All wool pieces are to be cut so that customers can follow directions and make the block just as shown. I measured and cut many pieces of wool in preparation for the big event!
